The Painted Anemone is also called Christmas Anemone because the column is a combination of olive green, reds, brown and tan in color. The column can be streaked or solid in color.
Unlike some other anemones, shells, rocks and other debris do not seem to cling to this anemone.
It is common to see them hanging from the underside of rocks as a brownish blob that some regard as gushy and gross looking.
